Project Abstract | There are more than 100,000 xenobiotics on the market in the European Union. Many different compounds including both inorganic elements such as heavy metals and metalloids and organic compounds such as pesticides, surfactants, preservatives, solvents, fragrances, flavours, and pharmaceuticals as well as endocrine disrupters are covered by this term. Aproximately 70,000 of them may be potentially hazardous for humans or ecosystems. The ability of xenobiotics to spread into the environment will be studied from a multidisciplinary viewpoint. |
