Project Abstract | The aim of this project is to investigate developing innovative water reuse technologies to enable a transition towards a systemic water circular water economy in Ireland. The goal is to evaluate these technologies in terms of their economic and technical feasibility, and to ultimately support the adoption of the most appropriate technologies in an Irish context. It is proposed that this desk based research will incorporate research and focussed stakeholder engagement. The primary research source that will be utilised to identify sites within Ireland treating significant quantities of wastewater is the EPA IED/IPC Licensing database. Stakeholder engagement will be used in the quantitative and qualitative analysis at the defined representative main sites to validate information obtained during the database searching and to audit the sites. It will also incorporate aspects of behavioural social science to gain an insight into water reuse perception. The process will be wide-ranging & collaborative, involving all relevant stakeholders in water sector. It is envisaged that this collective process will result in the foundation blocks of shared understanding of issues in an Irish context, and the development of a shared commitment to developing solutions for implementation of a successful systemic approach to water reuse in Ireland. |
