I am employed as a senior postdoctoral fellow at UCC but stationed at the Marine Institute. I am a researcher on fisheries management and firmly embedded in European networks of scientists in this field as well as connected to the DG MARE of the European Commission (I am a member of the STECF, advising the Commission on Fisheries Management) and ICES (the International Council of Exploration of the Sea). I design novel approaches to fisheries management and test them through simulation modelling and develop them further in consultation with the fishing industry and collaboration with a fisheries software company. I am also doing research on behavioural aspects of compliance with and buy-in to regulations.
