I am a microbiologist that works at the interface of biology, chemistry and material science. I have over 15 years of experience leading a team of researchers in biocatalysis and biodegradable polymer production by bacteria (fermentation), bioprocessing, bioprocess development, scaling biopolymer production, and developing applications for biodegradable polymers. I also have extensive molecular biology expertise for the generation of engineered enzymes and metabolic pathways. I have over 80 publications and I have filed 8 patent applications. I have founded a spin out company Bioplastech from UCD together with Dr Ramesh Babu (TCD).
