Fathom Energy & Environment Ltd provides expert advice to the Energy and Environmental sectors throughout Ireland. The business was founded by Gary Sims, who has over 20 years’ experience working alongside a wide range of public and private sector organisations throughout the Island. Fathom has robust knowledge of the Cleantech/Green Technology and Renewable Energy sectors and markets, working with a wide range of businesses throughout Ireland advising on the applicability, functionality and economic benefit of renewable energy systems. He therefore advises on contextual environmental regulations, licencing requirements, planning process and conditions. Within the resource efficiency discipline for example Fathom has delivered multiple projects for a range of businesses identifying and supporting the decision making and implementation of green technologies and resource efficiency practices, technologies and techniques. Many of these projects have availed of EU or public funding in support of micro and SME businesses. Within the energy sector projects for example have included biodiesel manufacturing, windfarms and single turbines, a waste to energy plant and transmission grid level renewable development integration. Gary is also an investigating Wayleave Officer for DETI and this work involves familiarity with low voltage as well as high voltage electricity network considerations at a site level. Fathom is also able to bring hands-on knowledge and experience of energy markets, support mechanisms and gas/electricity grid considerations. The company works in conjunction with its Norwegian partners to support the procurement of gas and electricity by local industrial and commercial users. Clients include Universites and experience involves the assimilation of energy data, preparation of tender documents and advising on the most suitable contract for our clients based on the modelling and appraisal of licenced energy Suppler offers. Through its partners, Fathom has access to live energy markets trading platforms for power, gas and carbon. This brings a detailed understanding of energy markets mechanisms and price trends. Fathom believes this is an element of knowledge and experience that helps support clients in the renewable energy sector to bring their project to market, negotiate Power Purchase Agreements, establish their carbon footprint or trade their Guarantees of Origin.
