Organisation or Individual Expertise:
We have detailed experience and knowledge in research into Energy, Water and Waste Reduction projects as well as process development for industry, in particular the beverage and food sector. We have completed a number of EPA Green Enterprise and Cleaner Greener Production Projects covering areas such as Water Recovery for Re-use, Best Practice for Distillery Co-Products, Caustic Recovery, CO2 recovery, Spent Pickle Acid and Galvanising Flux Recovery. We are currently co-ordinating and leading a EUR1.6M CIP Eco-Innovation project called PUReOPE (Process for Upgrade and Recovery of Polyphenol Extracts), recovering high-value by-products from the Brewing and Distilling industries. Our team includes Engineers, Brewers, Distillers and Process Chemists. We help turn science and research into reality through application of our engineering and process development skills. We have been involved in developing, piloting and implementing Energy Efficient Design methods in Projects in both Industry (e.g. Diageo) and the Public Sector (e.g. Waste Water treatment plants), and were part of the project team that developed the Energy Efficient Design Management Standard IS399. We have supported several industrial companies in Ireland and internationally in Energy Management, leading to ISO 50001 certification in many cases.
