Organisation or Individual Expertise:
My research is concerned with consumer attitudes, perceptions and decision-making regarding sustainable technologies and innovation. I’ve extensively investigated the widely acknowledged gap between consumers’ positive environmental attitudes and their (un-) willingness to adopt “green” technologies like renewable energies (i.e. attitude-behavior gap). Using theories from social psychology and behavioral economics, I am specifically interested in people's biases and in the psychological barriers that prevent them from making "more sustainable" decisions. I have researched these issues in the context of renewable energies, sustainable modes of transport, and water conservation. I am also involved in a project that investigates people's perceptions and reactions regarding climate change communications. I use mainly quantitative methodologies, such as surveys and experiments. However, I have also undertaken qualitative projects, including in-depths interviews and focus groups.
