Organisation or Individual Expertise:
The main research interests of the individual (Mark Kelly) is in construction and demolition waste management and resource efficiency in the construction sector. This encompasses such concepts as cradle-to-cradle and closed/open material loops in the construction sector. Previous funded research under Enterprise Ireland Applied Research Scheme, the EPA\\\'s ERDTI, STRIVE and CGPP has: investigated the development of a construction and demolition waste recycling facilitiy in Galway (2000--2002); developed an audit methodology to produce construction waste production indicators for the Irish construction sector (2003-2007); developed a series of lessons learned on the implementation of design and construction waste prevention and reduction measures on selected case studies (2008-current); and is currently development a resource efficiency toolkit for construction SMEs (2013-current). Mark is theme leader for the \\\'resource efficiency\\\' strand in the Centre for the Integration of Sustainable Technologies (CiSET) at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology. CiSET conducts research in the folllowing areas: Sustainable Energy Production Technologies including: Bio-Energy, Heat Pumps, Solar Thermal, Solar PV and Wind Turbines Sustainable Energy Integration & Applications including: Thermal Storage & Distribution, Control, System Selection and Optimisation Energy Utilisation, Management & Recovery Resource Efficiency and Planning including: Research assessment, energy efficiency and recovery, design for the environment Sustainable Energy Awareness (KDP-Energy) and E-Learning
